You are a surveyor working for the International Space Agency. You’re part of a group of astronauts scouting Mars for the perfect place to found a colony. You work alone for months at a time as you and your team scour the polar caps, volcanoes, and craters for your eventual home. You travel with your AI companion, who gives you everything you need to succeed at your mission.
Per Aspera is a story game for two (or more) people by Jenn Martin and Adam Robichaud. One player takes on the role of the surveyor, while the other takes on the role of all other people in the story: the AI who serves them, the support staff at the station, family back home. The game follows the life of the surveyor as they search for the future site of a human settlement on Mars.
It is inspired by: The Martian & Artemis by Andy Weir, The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, and My Last Continent by Midge Raymond. It was submitted for the Ad Astra game jam.
