Paris Gondo - The Life-Saving Magic of Inventorying (Text-Only Edition) [$5.00]

Paris Gondo - The Life-Saving Magic of Inventorying (Text-Only Edition) [$5.00]: by @rolistespod

"The play-based GonParis Method is a simple, smart, and effective way to banish encumbrance forever.  Adopt this dungeoneering strategy, and you’ll never be overloaded again."

This game is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to encumbrance rules and other tropes found in beloved dungeon-crawling games.

It is a GM-less storytelling game for 3 to 6 players, designed to be played in a few hours with polyhedral dice and no preparation.

Players in this game embody Adventurers who, as a group called a Party, have reached the last level of a Dungeon and defeated the Boss who presided over it. Play starts as Adventurers discover Loot you create. The objects you decide your Adventurer carries home makes up what you pack as their Final Inventory.

If Adventurers hold on to possessions that spark joy, they might feel invigorated and satisfied for the rest of their existence, or at least until their next adventure. But letting go of less emotionally charged but useful Belongings might prove to be a deadly mistake for the Party on their Journey Home.

It’s the transcript of a complete play session, edited for your enjoyment, to give you an overview of how the game works. This is inspired by the TRPG (Tabletalk Roleplaying Game) format popular in Japan.

Complete Rules

This includes the rules and everything you need to play the game in step-by-step instructions. This game is a collaborative storytelling game. You can jump straight to the GonParis Method and follow its Six Steps without prior reading. However, it works better if one player facilitates your first session by reading the rules in advance.

Play-Aids and Card Decks

You will find in the Appendix links to all the Play-aids and Card Decks in both JPG and PDF formats that you will need to play around a table.

Those are also included as a Miro board that you can copy to very easily play the game online.

About This "Text-Only" Edition

This current release is a work-in-progress but it already contains everything you need to play this game.

The sales from this edition will go towards hiring a professional graphic designer to make more legible and visually pleasing versions of the Rule Book, the Play-Aids and Card Decks.

Purchasing this current edition will get you:

  • The Rule Book as it is currently laid-out with any future text updates;
  • The updated versions of the Play-Aids and Card Decks, once I can afford a graphic designer;
  • A voucher matching the value of your purchase, to spend on the next edition of the game which will be fully laid-out and will integrate art (price to be determined);
  • A unique chance to "spark joy" with friends and to put your loot in order once and for all.

Just keep stuffing the black hole at the center of your soul with gabagool and you’ll be fine.

Is it possible to keep your family and your Family happy? Can you keep doing what you do without suffering an existential crisis? Use these quick-start Crew creation rules and the Therapy Notes Season Generator to create a rat's nest of plots, vices, and complications. Just try not to get whacked.

Voidheart Symphony / $19.99

Voidheart Symphony / $19.99: Publisher: UFO Press

There’s a wound in the world, a rot eating at hope and community and empathy. You’ve seen it in dark alleyways and gleaming boardrooms, gifting terrible power to those who will use it to hurt others.

You’ve had enough. You’re going to dive through that wound into the nightmare castle on the other side. You’re going to find the avatar of the one bringing you misery, and strike them down.

But what’s next, once you’ve stolen their power and ruined their ambitions? Will you return to your daily grind? Cherish those who are close to you? Or revel in the power you have taken from the void?

Because within that wound, the castle waits, and it is hungry.

Voidheart Symphony is a tabletop roleplaying game about mundane people diving into a demon-filled labyrinth to save the ones they love. Based on Apocalypse World and Rhapsody of Blood, it’ll fill your story with dramatic choices and dynamic action.

Your rebels each have a core strength – they may be an Authority, a Provider, a Watcher. But your enemy is far too great for you to face alone. Those you care for will grant you powers of their own: an investigative journalist can give you the searing light of the Sun, and a caring mentor may give you the healing power of the Gardener.

You’ll need to use that strength as you investigate your targets in the mundane world, and as you fight breathtaking and uncanny foes in that nightmare castle.

The World and the Void will both offer you their power, and make their own demands. How will you strike that balance? What will your revolution fight for? That’s your story to tell.

What Once Went Wrong / $5.99

What Once Went Wrong / $5.99: Publisher: NerdBurger Games

What Once Went Wrong

Oh, boy!

In What Once Went Wrong, you portray a time traveler who "leaps into" the body of someone in the past in order to help fix something that went wrong in their life. Only when you have helped fix the problem can you leap out...and hopefully leap home.

In addition to describing the world of the game, presenting challenges to the players, and portraying various other characters, the game master also portrays the observer, a guide from the traveler's time who helps the traveler by filling in missing information and suggesting things that might need fixing.

The game is structured such that the GM does not know exactly what change needs to be made for the traveler to leap out. They'll discover this together as the game is played.

What Once Went Wrong draws inspiration from and is a love letter to Quantum Leap.

SHARP: Short Hand Adventure Role Playing - RPG on a Business Card / $1.00

SHARP: Short Hand Adventure Role Playing - RPG on a Business Card / $1.00: Publisher: Tim Bannock

Built for the Pleasure-not-Business Card RPG Jam, SHARP is a rules-lite fantasy adventure tabletop role-playing game. Using the tropes you're already familiar with, SHARP performs two neat little tricks:

  1. SHARP re-casts Classes as flexible role combinations, so you can play interesting and bizarre combinations.
  2. SHARP gives the GM tools to build all challenges from the same framework, so the only difference between fighting goblins and saving commoners from a burning building is the players' ingenuity!

Formatted to fit on a business card, one side includes rules for creating adventurers and taking action, plus four pregenerated characters. The other side gives GMs the tools they need to adjudicate actions and challenge the adventurers, as well as two sources of inspiration: a list of tons of different challenges and levels, and a random table for rolling up the inciting incident that starts your adventure!

  • You get a complete fantasy adventure TTRPG that fits on a business card.
  • Included are a PDF version as well as a high resolution image version.

You win if you fill in all the blank spaces and there are still numbered spaces visible.

Weirdwood [$7.00]

Weirdwood [$7.00]:

Feeding on the dreams, emotions, and inner darkness of humanity, the Weirdwood is a primordial forest that grows just beyond perception. Its roots spread to every corner of the world, and the stuff of nightmares linger in the shadows of its ancient trees.

Sometimes, a persistent branch finds its way into the material realm, pushing through the cracks in abandoned buildings or blooming in dark alleyways.

Sometimes, something else comes through...

WEIRDWOOD is a narrative roleplaying game of dreams, nightmares, and the darkness in between. The characters belong to the Vartijat, an ancient order dedicated to protecting an unsuspecting world from a mysterious realm born from countless lifetimes of imagination. Whether hunting down fell creatures or thwarting the ambitions of those who seek to bend the Weirdwood's power to their own selfish ends, the Vartijat are humanity's first and last line of defense against the eternal darkness.

The Weirdwood is rarely the same in every location. For each game, the players create a unique version of the Weirdwood as it exists in their chosen city by answering a series of prompts from the Gamemaster to define its physical characteristics, important locations, native inhabitants, and magical qualities.

WEIRDWOOD uses a simple, collaborative dice-pool system for task resolution that encourages players to introduce complications and interesting narrative elements. Suitable for three to five people, the game is ideal for players who prioritize storytelling, theme, and drama over strictly defined rules.

The 32 page fully-illustrated black & white rulebook contains everything you need to play. You can use any size or style dice.
