This game was designed for the #beyondsuperjam.
This game is hugely inspired by Astro City by Kurt Busiek, and Top 10 by Alan Moore. It is also inspired by Microscope by Ben Robbins, The Quiet Year by Avery Alder, i’m sorry did you say street magic by caro asercion, and Apocalypse World by D. Vincent Baker and Meguey Baker.
This is a game about a City. It’s also a game about superheroes and villains and extraordinary people dealing with dangers no normal human could face on their own. At its heart though, it’s about a City. And the thing to remember about a City, is that more than its geography or its history, what really makes a City is its people.
You will create a City and introduce the Residents who make it their home, superpowered or not. Through play you will also introduce Events, Entanglements, Complications, Parallels and Aftermaths that flesh out the character of the Residents and the City. When you reach a Crisis point, you will advance to the next Age and do the same again, showing how the people and world change along with the times.
