You are a merdwarf. Your immense subterranean city of pools and haul-outs is accessed by underwater caves with clean air cycled from the surface by a vast network of pipes. You uncover sunken wrecks, mine the sea floor, hunt for mollusks, and trade with surface folks. Merdwarves value romance above all qualities.
Each day you will head out on an adventure in which you will endeavor to impress your beloved. Upon arriving home for the evening, you will write a short poem about the adventures of the day as an ode to your beloved. After reading any poems you may receive, choose whether or not to rededicate yourself to your beloved or give your love to another.
Play this game if you want to receive secret love letters and go on adventures under the sea. You'll keep the poems secret until the end, so there isn't as much pressure to write a "good" poem. It's cathartic at the end to laugh at all the sweet things you've written each other. This one page game plays well as a one shot, but could be used as a framework for downtimes between missions if you wanted to expand the days into full-fledged adventures. As a one shot, it can be GM-less if folks are willing to up the stakes for each other, but a GM can help push the narrative forward. I've played it both ways!
