Our Doomed Hometown [Free]

Our Doomed Hometown [Free]:

You are ordinary townsfolk, in a small town in a fantastical setting. You are not people of particular power or influence, but you have your own goals, dreams, and lives. Unfortunately, none of that is about to matter, because your town is home to one of the most dangerous beings in existence - a hero.

This hero may not be aware of their power yet, but it is already twisting the universe
around it. They are destined for greatness, and the first moment of that greatness is already on the horizon. Your home, for all its richness and life, is nothing but the hero’s starting town, and soon it will be overwhelmed by darkness, and you will die.

There is only one hope for you, and for your town. You need to become narratively
important enough that your death is more than just a moment for the Hero to mourn. You need to become interesting not just to yourself, but to them. If you do this, there is a faint chance that you will survive, and if enough of you are interesting, it is just possible that the town will survive, too.

Our Doomed Hometown is a one-shot roleplaying game in which players take on the role of minor characters in a game’s starting town. Over the course of the game, players will run scenes in which they attempt to define interesting or useful facts about their characters, and draw the Hero’s attention. When Doom comes to the hometown, the players will use the character traits that they have gathered to attempt to survive.
