It was the last wave of chemical warheads that broke the Sebeok Nuclear Disposal Site's vault. Now its contents have begun to spill into the world, insidious poisons to match the chemicals that still blight the atmosphere.

Irradiated dust in the groundwater, they told you, in the roots of trees. If containment is not restored, a hundred years from now there will be invisible fires raging in every field and orchard. They sent you down below the earth in triply-reinforced hazard suits and bubblehead helmets, shoulders piled with half-assembled carbon control rods, like the partisans of some alien nation.

A Place of Honor was written in ~24 hours for the Treasure Jam. A brief, fatalistic microgame, it depicts three to five residents of the Sebeok Nuclear Disposal Site, laboring over the course of years to contain a spill of nuclear materials, and sustaining themselves by disassembling their carefully-built environment for treasures - just a few - to accompany them into the grave.
