World of Gamma [Free]

World of Gamma [Free]:

World of a Gamma is a miniaturized, concentrated, PbtA take on Gamma World.

You remember Gamma World, right? The (yes, problematic) post-apocalyptic game from TSR first published in 1978. Seven editions later, it remains an appendage of D&D, despite the rich possibilities of its setting.

As a kid, I was taken in by the mutant animals and plants, the psychic powers, the fabulous creatures, the mysterious tech, and the eerie resemblance to our modern world. Even as a pre-teen I could see that its tone was different from D&D — a more tongue-in-cheek group of adventurers — that didn’t take itself too seriously.

I hope you enjoy it!

In World of Gamma, an apocalypse created a genetic mixing bowl of life on Earth. The new inhabitants are mutated animals or plants, some with humanoid characteristics. Players play these part-animal/part-human people, building new societies, discovering long-lost tech, and exploring the World of Gamma.

Themes: Post-Abundance; Diversity; Exploration; Forces of Nature; Life Goes On

World Elements: Slightly recognizable landmarks; Mangled place names; Nature overgrown; Ornery robots; Mysterious technology; Deadly beasts

World of Gamma was created for the one-page RPG jam in August 2020.
