Phantom Island [50% Off] [$2.50]

Phantom Island [50% Off] [$2.50]: by @omi_the_fool

This game was written in dialogue with Head of a Dead Cat: A Meditation on Violence, also written by this game’s creator. You do not need to be familiar with Head of a Dead Cat in order to fully engage with this game, although familiarity will give you additional perspective.

This game has a content warning for unreality, political imprisonment, memory loss, and mechanics based on improvisation and having to remember information given to you on short notice. The game does not punish players with short-term memory issues, instead opting to frame frequent forgetfulness as an explicitly possible direction of play.

This game invites people to have uncomfortable conversations about the positions of social privilege they have in relation to each other, with the expectation that everyone engaged in those conversations is committed to dismantling the social systems responsible for creating those positions. Playing as political prisoners in indefinite detention while repeatedly haunted by memories stolen by the state, you will navigate the ghosts of your past together while working to create a new reality free from these cycles of haunting.
