Welcome, dear reader, to The Rank + Vile! A tabletop roleplaying game for those who wish to fill the boots of the bloodthirsty army of... bumbling, stumbling gremlins and goblins who can only be counted on to screw everything up.
The Rank + Vile is a tabletop role-playing game where you and up to three other players (and one Game Master) take on the roles of minions of a great overlord of evil, stumbling over yourselves and failing at almost everything you do. Instead of facing off against dangerous challenges like plundering the jewels of power for your lord and master, you are stuck pilfering the farmer's crops instead.
You're a lousy, bumbling fool, and the Dark Lord knows it. But maybe you don't have to be that way. Maybe the Dark Lord... could actually win?
The focus of The Rank + Vile is fun and antics in a stealth-focused gameplay environment. You don't face off against difficulty, but the chance of being spotted and swarmed by guards and heroes. Set against a simple 3d6 rolling mechanic, you can take the form of six kinds of minions to do the dirty work set before you.
Not interested in combat? Neither is this game! The Rank + Vile simply assesses the threats before you; if your enemy is a larger threat than you are, you're doomed, no two ways about it. So you have to use what wits you have to mitigate trouble and complete your goals for the Dark Lord.
This game is simple to pick up and play with character generation, equipment and inventory kept to the bare minimum.
