A fantasy game brimming with tension, Dreadnaught follows a party of adventurers as they complete quests in a hostile world. It uses two dice pools to increase your game's drama -- Resolve and Dread.
As the player characters spend dice from their Resolve pool, their failures aggravate Dread. The Gamemaster can then spend Dread dice to present challenges to the party. The more Dread dice the GM can spend, the more dangerous the challenge.
Dreadnaught is a game that stands on its own. Yet it's low prep and rules lite, enough that you can easily houserule the Dread system into your preferred PbtA or OSR game.
The core rules include rules on playing the game, making a character, and a comprehensive gamemastering section.
