I love those kids’ cartoons with the mysterious, over-arcing plots, fantastic characters and weird locations: they’re wholesome, engaging and fun, balancing the right mix of danger and discovery to create an engaging story. In the best ones, you even get some character development, as the protagonists learn something about themselves in the process of growing up.

This game is an attempt to capture the feel of those types of cartoons, and while it doesn’t attempt to copy any particular one, it does provide a framework for creating your own distinctive setting. Some rules are presented for playing the game straight out of the box, but you could also use the setting creation guidelines you’ll find here in conjunction with your preferred rule set.

The game is child-friendly and can be tuned to the level of content you are comfortable with: there is no guide or game master who runs the game, all players co-operate to create the details of the setting and implement the rules of play.

If you're playing online, why not use this shared character sheet?
