The Necronomicon is not a book. It’s a virus. It was written many eons ago. Legends differ as to who wrote it. Some say it was the demon-son Merlin. Some say it was written by a mad dreamer. Others say it was Abd-el-Hazred. Others say it was written by Adam and Eve when they first stole forbidden knowledge. Nonetheless the book corrupts those who read it and leads them down the path of Dark Arts. When the corrupted soul learns more dark secrets, they add it to the book. And when the damned cultist is near death they pass on their expanded Necronomicon to others. And the cycle repeats. And repeats. They say the spirit that calls out to through the Necronomicon seeks to gain enough power to open R’lyeh and raise the Old Ones from their sleep . . . And these Elder gods seek to drag you into their corruption.
