What was the RPG Pipeline

The RPG Pipeline was a posting board to keep track of upcoming tabletop rpgs from 2015 to 2021 (this Blogger version began in 2019). It covered new English language ttrpgs and ttrpgs going into crowdfunding.

Zombie Game (Working Title) [Free]

Zombie Game (Working Title) [Free]:

This game was designed as the final project for an Experimental Tabletop RPG design class at UCSC. Each player embodies a horde of zombies, in which the horde size and zombie types are randomized. The rules are full of light-hearted jabs at zombie movie tropes, and the overall gameplay seeks to see how goofy players can get about taking down the remaining few survivors in a zombie-apocalyptic wasteland.

Some design challenges included figuring out a way for players to have a full "fleshed out" (pun intended) sense of roleplaying despite playing as a brainless mass of zombies. Future rules will include RP tips for the players, such as suggesting that they use body language or basic grunts to communicate in character.  I also worked on figuring out how to set up a good dice roll curve, and had to do plenty of math adjustments to make the rolling system (in which you roll LOTS of six-sided dice) feel tense but fair.

Download the rules pdf, grab a ton of six-sided dice, and get ready to gnaw on some skulls!
