What was the RPG Pipeline

The RPG Pipeline was a posting board to keep track of upcoming tabletop rpgs from 2015 to 2021 (this Blogger version began in 2019). It covered new English language ttrpgs and ttrpgs going into crowdfunding.

#name the rpg [Free]

#name the rpg [Free]:

Character creation

  • What is [character name]’s most prominent physical feature?
  • What is [character name]’s most prominent mental feature?
  • What is [character name]’s most prominent personality trait?
  • What is the most important skill or asset [character name] has gained from his/her profession?
  • What is the most important skill or asset [character name] has gained from his/her personal life?

Questions should be answered in the format [adjective][noun] alternatively [genitive][noun], e.g. freakish strength, runner’s stamina or extensive library. Distribute 5/4/3/2/1 among the character tags. These are the tag modifiers.

Simple test

By burning a narratively appropriate tag a character can advance a scene. Tags are refreshed at end of session.

Critical test (should be used when the character faces a severe danger):

  1. Roll 2d6, burn a tag modifier to +/- the result if desired
  2. Consult the outcome table OR roll an additional d6 to add to the result (this can be repeated until a Catastrophic failure is reached)

Outcome table

2-9 Failure – major harm

10-11 Partial Success – minor harm

12 Success – no harm

13+ Catastrophic failure – the worst possible outcome (death, insanity, etc)
