Voidfarers is a Forged in the Dark game about the crew of a spaceship, a group of vagrants, and their struggle to survive, focusing on the choices and relationships they make while doing so. There are moments high octane drama with criminal operations, revolutions squabbles, hegemonic oppression, violent skirmishes, and high-G maneuvers. There are also moments of calm, the quiet intimacy of a crew sharing a meal, working together to keep the ship running, and supporting each other.
Voidfarers takes place in a planetary system, not unlike the Solar System, colonised by humanity but cut off from Earth. The Gan Hegemony rules over the system, establishing colonial governments to manage the regions in the system’s Periphery, extracting their wealth to enrich itself. However, corporate interests and rivals with eyes on the throne seek to destablize the Hegemony, while resentment builds and revolutionary forces seek to free themselves of their shackles.
This is designed to create a pressure cooker like environment, forcing the crew to rely on one another as they undertake desperate opeations to survive the hardships of space and an authoritarian regime, all the while forming relationships with like-minded NPCs and factions and making difficult decisions.

INSPIRATIONS
Voidfarers is inspired by The Expanse book series by James S. A. Corey, seeking to capture the emotional development of a crew of vagrants as the survive the hardships of space and an oppressive space regime.
It also draws from Pyre by Supergiant Games, with elements of found family and how bonds develop through success and failure, and Black Sails by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine, exploring fraternity and the fight for survival.
DEVELOPMENT
Voidfarers is currently in development. Throughout its development, Voidfarers will cost $10US, with the price increasing to $20US upon its final release.
By selling Voidfarers while it is in development, I am aiming to pay for the ongoing costs to its continued development. These include:
- Art, including the cover art, maps of the system and its regions, andother interior art.
- Consulting.
- Editing.
- Layout, which I am doing myself, but programs and fonts are expensive.
