Leap Engine RPG [Free]

Leap Engine RPG [Free]:

Leap Engine (LE) is a set of core rules for playing a role-playing game with your friends. The rules are light and concise, built around a simple d10 escalation mechanic that allows players to decide which tasks are meaningful enough to take a risk trying to achieve them. The players will, inevitably, create complications for themselves and give the GM an opportunity to build on that..

The rules leave little for players to arbitrate during play, but are still flexible enough to allow for complex characters, actions, and situations. Story, theme, and flavor are yours to create, while the engine provides you with the means to do so. The game works best when played in a semi-realistic setting where magic is not abundant. Characters are heroes, but still vulnerable and fragile, invested in the world they occupy.

  • Characters have a basic structure that's expanded with free form tags to give them depth.
  • Flexible magical or supernatural actions that can be created on the fly as you play.
  • Action point based initiative system that supports tactical combat with little fuss.
  • Minimal bookkeeping without heavy abstractions. Your choice of items to carry will make a difference.
  • Packed in 30 player-facing pages with 20 GM-facing pages to help run your games easily.

The game is in early access phase and would benefit from feedback and play testers. You can provide feedback with this google form or send any thoughts you might have to mats.madison@gmail.com.
