Legacy of the Soul Flame is an Indie full-colour illustrated and deluxe campaign setting based on the personal roleplaying campaigns run by the author for two decades. Launched on Kickstarter in April 2021, Legacy of the Soul Flame was fully funded 12 minutes and is now available on general release. Explore a vast continent of stark beauty filled with detail and lore. Use the magic of your birth right – your soul flame – to combat the undead that riddle the lands and that humanity barely holds in check. Dig beneath the snow and ice to find remnants of a lost technological age and determine what happened to the elves and the fey.
A vast setting.
An entire continent of adventure awaits. Cross the hard frost on the Iron Lines, avoid getting lost (and worse) in the ancient forest of Lataril, and seek passage to the settlements in the Deltas if you can find a crew willing to sail there.
A changing world.
The undead won. Only the remains of humanity eek out their lives on the continent. But there is hope. The soul flame provides an avenue to destroy the threats facing the species. If they can get along with each other and organize themselves.
Detailed lore and locations.
A technological past juxtaposed against traditional fantasy races, now both lost to myth and time but discoverable to humanity. Detailed descriptions of a large number of settlements separated by large distances and ruins of times gone by. Meet the people who inhabit these lands, learn their desires, and flaws. Listen to the rumours and take in the sights.
An Illustrated 420 Page Volume.
The d6-based game system introduced in Astulae has been re-worked from the ground up for Legacy of the Soul Flame. If this doesn’t suit a gaming group, the entire setting has been written in sufficient detail that it can be exported to other game systems.
Thirteen entire chapters are dedicated to the physical game world, each describing individual regions, their occupants, and the nature of the undead threat.
Choose your genealogy as part of your character creation: this will determine what magical powers your soul flame grants to your character. Decide where you were born: the lands controlled by the undead will taint your character accordingly. Take an oath to join a Union to brighten the future of humanity; or become a near-slave to one of its rulers.
Beware the Rule of the Dozen.
When you gather in numbers with your fellow human beings, the undead sense it and come looking like a moth to a flame. They are predators. They want to feast on human’s soul flames.
Stay in groups of twelve of less to keep safe. The dead are everywhere, and waiting dormant beneath the snow to rip humanities’ magical core away from them.
The adventure.
Can you bring a group together to combat the undead? Can you destroy one of the legendary undead rulers by uniting different factions of humanity?
Or will you be content making riches by exploring the dangerous dungeons of Down Below that date back to the lost age of human glory?
