When there are no more mass production facilities and new technology is rare if ever available, the world learns to save, repair, and repurpose existing gadgets in order to keep things going. With one crucial piece of of the puzzle knocked out of place, the world changed and now a new way of life has taken shape. Players take on the role of collectors. Collectors travel from place to place collecting random parts they need for their community. There's only so much daylight so you'd better keep moving.

Experience a world not unlike our own, but different in that humanity came together to make peace with itself, with the earth, and with the inevitability of finite resources coming to an end.

The Chthulucene Collectors is a game for 1-4 players that can played solo or with friends. It is based on the Carta System by Peach Garden Games. The game requires a standard deck of cards, a regular cube die (d6), a token (chess piece, coin, etc) to represent each player, and something to write down results with.

This game was made for Applied Hope: The Solarpunk & Utopias Jam and was inspired by Staying with the Trouble: Making Kin in the Chthulucene by Donna Haraway. In compliance with the terms of the jam, the text-only version is offered free and licensed CC-BY 4.0 which means that people can use and make their own versions of the game provided that they credit me for the original work (this summary doesn't replace the terms of the license, you'll have to look at the actual text for the full thing).
