There is something difficult about getting your first familiar as a mage. Whether it is the component cost or spell prep, we forget to earn the trust of a perspective familiar first. Bonds are always a tough thing.
Earn Your Familiar's Attention is a two-player roleplaying game that puts them in a subtle dance of mage and perspective familiar. While there are mechanics in many TTRPGs out there, none make you do the silly things needed here to earn this familiar's trust and attention.
While the default here is a cat (Thanks April for being my model!), you can change the familiar type and the categories however you would like. Make that first time more memorable than a simple roll to check if you succeeded once.
