Zia’s Recipe Book is a game about the dishes that connect families across generations, be they family of blood, or family of choice. Zia is Italian for Aunt, but this recipe book can be from any auntie, mama, mother, grandmother, nonna, nanna, tia, bobe, mākuahine, kupunahine, or anakē across generations, or ethnic groups. It is full of recipes that have fed the family for generations. It is a treasured artifact that connects the present to the past. But Zia never measured in cups or tablespoons. There is not a mention of ounces or grams anywhere inside this book. And you are to make one of these signature recipes for a major event. The story of how this dish is made, and who you make it with, and what history you remember together, is the tale you will tell at this table. You will need only 1 d6, and some writing implements and paper to play.
