What was the RPG Pipeline

The RPG Pipeline was a posting board to keep track of upcoming tabletop rpgs from 2015 to 2021 (this Blogger version began in 2019). It covered new English language ttrpgs and ttrpgs going into crowdfunding.

The Storyteller [Free]

The Storyteller [Free]:

VpbvF3.jpg

Camping! S'mores! Spooky stories! Being too scared to go pee at 3am in the deep abyss that consumes the forest each night when the terrors arise and feast upon those who stray too far from the glowing embers of the dying fire!

The Storyteller is an improv campfire narrative system of horror and mystery, designed to help create engaging, collaborative stories in the wilderness, with minimal resources and rules. It uses a couple lightweight, flexible mechanics to allow your audience to connect directly with the story, by selecting the type of story being told, making decisions for an individual character, or helping guide the monster itself. There’s no dice, no character sheets, and no skill sets. Setup for the game consists of filling out a Mad Libs story template, using a myriad of options presented in the rulebook (or come up with your own!), and loosely defining who the characters of the group are in the story.

After reading through the rulebook, print pages 2-7 (double sided) to bring with you to play. Once you’ve played once or twice, even this rule book should become redundant, and you and your friends can sit around the campfire, with nothing but your imagination and your camping equipment, and tell tall tales. Running the narrative is meant to be easy enough that everyone around the fire can take turns telling stories.

Includes an optional Story Template print out to keep track of the Mad Lib options being picked to craft the story.

Story Template

Our story begins in [geographical location] in the [mood] [setting].

A group of [character group], discover [inciting problem].  The [monster] is [happenings].

In the end [ending].

Example

Our story begins in Northern Minnesota in the Abandoned Scout Camp.

A group of Old Scouting Friends discover the fire pit is piled high with human bones. The Wendigo is the reason the campsite shut down, having killed the entire camp one summer - councilors and all.

In the end only one makes it out alive but is driven insane.
