Tactical Deck is a single-player role-play/strategy game based on 80s action movies, tactical espionage video games, and spy thrillers.
The game begins as you, a special operations agent of D.I.C.E (The Department of Infiltration and Covert Extraction), parachute down onto the roof of the Royal Flush Corporation headquarters; a 52-story skyscraper (represented by a deck of cards) that has been taken over by an unknown terrorist organisation outfitted with advanced technology.
To succeed in your mission, you must complete four key objectives (represented by the aces scattered throughout the deck). As you descend each floor you will uncover equipment (diamond cards) which can help you to avoid deadly traps (spade cards) and overcome ruthless enemies (club cards). When injured, you'll need to recover by finding medical equipment or safe areas to recuperate for a while (heart cards). During the mission you might meet helpful allies or cunning villains (represented by Jacks, Queens, and Kings). These elements of the game can be defined by your own imagination or with the help of several descriptive tables included in the zine.
Finding all of the objective cards before running out of health completes the mission!
This game requires a standard deck of playing cards and a six-sided die. The rules, card descriptions, and character sheets are all included within the zine.
