Flaw of Fourteen [Free]

Flaw of Fourteen [Free]:

Flaw of Fourteen is a horror centered TTRPG about investigation, gradual terror, stupid mistakes, and fighting to keep your humanity. The world is derived from the horror podcast The Magnus Archives, written by Jonathan Sims, produced by Alexander J. Newall, and licensed under a creative commons attribution share-alike 4.0 international license.

This is intended to be a horror RPG, and therefore will usually entail graphic descriptions of all sorts of terrifying things. This also depends on the guidelines and limits defined by individual groups. The RPG is best played with the most gripping and revolting descriptions you can imagine, but it is up to player and GM discretion. The recommended ages for this TTRPG are 13+, with the actual content being adjusted to the ages of the players within the game.

A World that Warps Around You

Our world is somewhat-secretly ruled by Fear Entities, categorized into different beings through the attempt at understanding these other-worldly entities from the perspective of mankind. For ease, this book will rely on the primary categorization of Robert Smirke, with 14(15) primary fears.

The core mechanic of playing this RPG is Despair, which is a constant bar of how much horror and trauma the player character is currently dealing with, with the threat of losing your character’s humanity if the bar is filled, reaching 16 Despair. This Despair can only be soothed through a dedicated role play scene between characters, or through leveling up. The other majority of this TTRPG runs similar to others, in particular the PBTA system where the primary rolling is done just with 2d6. Whenever a character needs to do something, they will roll a Move using these two dice, and add whatever modifiers they possess from their class and Marks, special abilities relevant to the Fear Entities that rule this world.

The goal of running this TTRPG is for the player characters to confront and behold horrifying monsters and situations of all kinds, while fighting to keep their humanity and sanity with them. Best played with a constant foreboding terror hanging over your heads and a lovely sense that things will only get worse.
