You travel through the ruins of your once-home, sifting through the ashen wastes by night. By day you sleep.

You hide.

From the EYES.

It is the warmth of your skin, the wetness of your lips, the blood rushing through your veins that it is after. It will seep into your wounds and flay you alive.

You seek a place beyond the horizon: paradise. They say you can transcend your human form there, and live out your days away from its terrible gaze. So they say.

PYTHIA [$5.00]

PYTHIA [$5.00]:

pGWNVy.jpg

The year is indeterminate. There
is a war, with no end in sight,
fought mainly by machines.Until recently, industrial-scale
chassis, military frames and
android bodies alike have been
the exclusive domain of human
operators, a highly specialized and
intensely competitive field. A
single highly qualified candidate,
recently graduated from the ranks
of an intensive program at a
high-tier piloting academy, has
been selected for an experimental
project that promises to change
history. As it turns out, this project will
never require the candidate to
pilot a frame. By scanning and
uploading copies of the
candidate’s memories, the
project’s manager — a visionary
AI psychologist — plans to create
a strong, conscious AI. This AI pilot, named PYTHIA, will
have access to all the candidate’s
experience and talent, with no risk
of being killed in action; in the
event of death, a new copy of
PYTHIA can be loaded from
secure backups. In theory, once finalized, an AI
cannot legally have their machine-mind reprogrammed without their
consent. In practice, the nature of
the project means that only the
candidate is in a position to
notice or object as PYTHIA —
who shares many of their
formative memories, and whose
personality is consequently very
much like their own — is rebuilt,
memory by artificial memory, to
serve the interests of the state.

PYTHIA is a game about watching
this happen.
PYTHIA is a two-player, semi-asynchronous game, about negotiating the slow, systemic loss of your identity. One player takes the role of the CANDIDATE, a pilot chosen for their exceptional skill, whose memories are the foundation of PYTHIA's personality. The other takes the role of the EDITOR, manager of the experimental program that created PYTHIA, whose career depends on creating an AI useful to their superiors. At times, each of them will play PYTHIA in conversation with the other.

The Candidate chooses the memories definitive to them and creates PYTHIA. The Editor, over months or years of missions and repairs and "routine" machine-mind therapy, redacts details, erases trauma, and writes propaganda into the core of PYTHIA's psyche to satisfy their shadowy superiors. The Candidate, in turn, speaks to PYTHIA, feels out the places where their memories have been gutted, and fixes what they can, knowing that someday they will have to accept what has been done to PYTHIA... or destroy their backups, and kill the person their counterpart has become.

NEVER Stop Smiling (Release Edition) $4.99

NEVER Stop Smiling (Release Edition): $4.99

Publisher: Thought Police

TEMPORARILY ON SALE PWYW. LIMITED TIME ONLY.

NEVER Stop Smiling is a weird fiction game set in post-apocalyptic dytopia. An unknown cataclysm tore apart the Earth and decimated humanity. "Cursed lands" and "wild places" have subsumed the world.

The Happy Place is one of the walled cities housing the remnants of mankind. There it is literally the law to NEVER Stop Smiling. Players explore the dystopian society of The Happy Place and mysteries of the broken world they live in.

Characters usually cannot die, but can be lost to Madness. If a character dies, they will mysteriously resurrect off-screen and return to the story. However, the ressurection is flawed, leaving behind a disturbing resonance of instability. The mysteries of the world can also be too much for the mind to bear. Eventually, the instability will become a permanent Madness. The gift of Undying also fades as characters venture too far from The Happy Place.

Uses a simple yet deep 2d6 system, tuned for the wild nature of the setting. One die determines success or failure, while the other determines cost or advantage. Character skills change the chances of success and advantage. "Stones" representing favors and secrets are gained and spent. Natures and Madness not only provide roleplaying guidance, but have impacts on the world and play.

This beta release provides a complete system including:

  • Setting Introduction
  • Core dice system, including guidance on how and when to roll
  • Extended action rules
  • Action sequence and conflict rules
  • Narrative conditions making mental and spiritual conflict as important as physical battle
  • Special moves rewarding caution and sacrifice
  • Guidance for Madness impacts
  • Overview of the wider world
  • 9 example beasts
  • Guidance for creating team ties and direction
  • Suggestions for beginning encounters
  • Character growth advice and guidance
  • Guidelines for a GM-less game
  • Dice oracle for solo, GM-lite, and emergent world play
  • Advice for worldbuilding and play modes, structure, and flow
  • Example characters (4 player level and 13 non-player characters)
Purchasers of this version will receive all future updates and expansions.

Soulbound: Dark Industrial Fantasy $9.00

Soulbound: Dark Industrial Fantasy: $9.00

Publisher: Andi Lynn

Soulbound is tabletop game about wielding randomly generated, arcane weapons which are bound to one's spirit. It is set in the golden age of invention, a time plagued by giant fauna and corrupted demigods. As hunters of the inhuman it is your duty to slay these beasts.

In Soulbound players assume the role of Wielders, regular humans who have been bestowed unique weapons with supernatural powers. A Wielder is no one kind of person. They are heroes and villains, thieves and saints. The universe has granted a small population with these soulbound weapons, roughly every one in one-hundred people, but how each person chooses to use their gift is what determines their fate. Such people live in turmoil, shunned by those who fear their powers and controlled by those who wish to abuse them.

The game has been made with an original setting and unique rules for a complete product, no supplements necessary!

  • Played with Six-sided Dice - Soulbound is played using only six-sided dice. The rules are quick to learn, rolls are measured by counting a number of Successes, similar to predecessors like Shadowrun and Burning Wheel.

  • Billions of Weapon Combinations - Weapons, also known as Bonds, are randomly generated by rolling dice. From a list of 100 weapons, 3 distinct builds, and 36 arcane Powers there are literally billions of combinations, making each character’s weapon truly unique.

  • Organic Growth - Rather than progressing along a predetermined route characters in Soulbound grow organically. New magic powers are gained by slaying Corrupted enemies, and players must hand pick their own Skills and Tricks.

  • Hex-grid Combat - Soulbound is designed to be played on a hexagonal grid, with specific rules for fighting against many of the large beasts one will face. This isn’t necessary of course, the combat is just as fun in the mind’s eye if a Storyteller chooses to play it as such.

  • A Dark Fantasy - The plane is Solum is one wrought with struggle and despair. Humanity has, by matter of impending extinction, been forced into vertical cities with towering walls. Beasts which hide behind masks of bone, Deceivers, and shapeshifting demons, the Akuma, lurk in the shadows as an incomprehensible and ever present threat. These foes will not be easily slain, and players can expect to perish quickly if they are not well prepared.

  • The World of Solum - Soulbound takes place on the plane of Solum, a vast land which has been roughly divided into six nations. Primium, Uhyre, Agrewin, Qray Ralim, Rajan, and Sozo each possess their own culture to serve as the backdrop for endless adventures.

  • Hunting Houses and Trades - In lieu of traditional classes players may opt to join one of 3 hunting Houses. Each of these Houses then branches into 3 hunting Trades for a total of 9 Trades between all Houses. These academies provide indispensable hunting to gear to those who wish to brave the dangers outside of the walls.

  • Industrial Era - Soulbound takes place in an industrial golden age, where ingenuity is key for survival. In addition to the technological wonders offered by the hunting guilds players may purchase Upgrades for their weapons and build their armor sets piece by piece.

  • Arcane Abilities - By using their weapons players may conjure simple arcane Tricks, easily produced effects they’ve learned on their own, or devastating arcane Powers, gifted to them from another realm. When slaying especially dangerous foes characters even have a chance to become mutated by Corrupted energy, gaining all new abilities.

Help! I Want To Play A Game, But I Can't Find My D1! [$3.00]

Help! I Want To Play A Game, But I Can't Find My D1! [$3.00]:

Umiirx.jpeg

"A Loving Tribute To The Most Beloved, Yet Most Forgotten Dice" - D1 Fanatic Magazine
"If you like a good D1, then this is the game for you" - D1 Collector Monthly
It is a feeling everyone knows.

You're playing a game and suddenly realize that you've lost your D1.

Maybe it rolled away.

Maybe it was stolen by a naughty seagull.

Either way, you are now without a D1. The most important die in any set.

The words of D. Innes Ceed, the famous dice poet, flash through your mind.

"A dice set without a D1 is like a dog without a bicycle. Dramatically slow and unable to get to the pub."
But then you realize that your house may contain hidden D1s....

"Help! I Want To Play A Game, But I Can't Find My D1! " is a fast and frantic party TTRPG about one-sided dice. When their character is faced with a problem, the player may roll as many D1s as they wish. But, there is a catch: they have to find them, first!

Players must race around their home and find all the rollable spheres they can.

But, beware! Once you've made your roll, you have to put those items back where you found them.

Another player can't use the items as D1s until they've been returned to their proper position. The more rolls players make, the harder the game becomes as players have to work harder to find new D1s.

You will need:

  • 1 D10 (for the GM)
  • Scratch Paper
  • Stopwatch Or Timer
  • A House Full Of Wonderful, Majestic D1s, Ripe For The Picking!

This Place is Older Than Us [Free]

This Place is Older Than Us [Free]:

This Place is Older Than Us is a game exploring the surreal, almost sentient auras that some places can give off, as well as the feeling of taking shelter somewhere secure while a storm rages outside.

Players can create totally new characters and lore for this game, or can play using existing characters or settings; the ruleset is built with flexibility in mind. This Place is Older Than Us looks however the players imagine it -- you could play as a group of teenagers taking shelter from a daunting gym class just as easily as you could play a circle of knights hiding from a dragon in an abandoned castle. Whatever the frame chosen, the game is meant to be played in a single setting.

Comments and feedback are appreciated in order to improve the game for the future.

FORTUNOUS COOKIES, the One-Shot RPG [Free]

FORTUNOUS COOKIES, the One-Shot RPG [Free]:

"A fortune cookie is a crisp and sugary cookie usually made from flour, sugar, vanilla, and sesame seed oil with a piece of paper inside, a 'fortune', on which is an aphorism, or a vague prophecy. The message inside may also include a Chinese phrase with translation and/or a list of lucky numbers used by some as lottery numbers; since relatively few distinct messages are printed, in the recorded case where winning numbers happened to be printed, the lottery had an unexpectedly high number of winners sharing a prize. Fortune cookies are often served as a dessert in Chinese restaurants in the United States and other Western countries, but are not a tradition in China. The exact origin of fortune cookies is unclear, though various immigrant groups in California claim to have popularized them in the early 20th century. They most likely originated from cookies made by Japanese immigrants to the United States in the late 19th or early 20th century. The Japanese version did not have the Chinese lucky numbers and was eaten with tea."
