Navigator RPG - Playtest
This game has taken the core of White Star and given it a 1980’s d100 make overto produce an alternative version of the classic Iron Crown Enterprises Inc. Space Master.It is certainly not White Star anymore but it isn’t Space Master either. You do get attack and critical tables with the iconic ‘66’ and ‘00’ instant death results. You also get that simple OSR monster format. You get d100 stats, open ended rolls and any character can learn any skill. It is your skills that define what you can and cannot do.
You also get a much simpler world, the OSR way of doing things.
Conversion Rules
The game has fully playable character species, alien and human, cultures and professions. What you also get are the rules used to create those species, cultures and professions. If you own just about any OSRIC, OGL or Swords and Wizardry book, including the White Star Galaxy Edition you can convert it over to expand the core rules in this game. It is a central design goal that a community should expand this game to add the level of detail and simulationist rules that your group enjoys but at the same time that detail is entirely optional. Fast and loose play is just as easy, if not easier.Free as in Speech and as in Beer
The OGL license guarantees that this game will be free, as in speech, for anyone to add, remix, and modify. You can create anything you like for it and sell it as your own.I personally guarantee that this game will always be no more than PWYW. Printed Books
At the end of the playtest period this book will be available as printed, print on demand, books. The donations from the Pay What You Want will be used to meet those expenses.What do you get?
The playtest download has the rules as a PDF and a couple of additional documents not needed to play the game but only intended for those wanting to playtest and start creating your own supplements for Navigator RPG.The playtest PDF is a layered PDF so background colours can be turned off for easier printing.
