Blood on Red Soil is a solo journaling game
about overwhelming odds and acting decisively in the face of near certain
death. It is about tapping into a mix of bravery, stubbornness, and a desire to
go on set against a backdrop of red landscapes and deadly conditions. It is
about feeling anger for being abandoned while also understanding why.
You play as the last remaining crew member of a
scrubbed mission to Mars after an unexpected storm rips through the site. You
know how quickly this planet can turn on you and are all too aware of the
hundreds of ways you could die here. You must successfully navigate the coming
days knowing that any small mistake could be your last.
—
This game also requires a standard deck of 52 playing cards, a 6-sided die, 14 tokens, a tumbling block tower (optional), and a way of recording your play: a audio or video recording device is recommended, but pen and paper will also work.
—
Blood on Red Soil was made as part of the Wretched & Alone game jam using the Wretched & Alone SRD. The Wretched was created by Chris Bissette.
—
Community Copies are available for those experiencing economic hardship. For every copy of Blood on Red Soil sold at full price ($5 or more) a free copy will be added for those who cannot engage with Blood on Red Soil due to economic hardship, especially as a result of being part of a marginalized group.
